Dick DeVos Loves To Give Back

Dick DeVos is an individual who is dedicated to politics, activism, work, and family. DeVos grew up in Grand Rapids Michigan, and he graduated from Northwest University with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration. DeVos went on to go to Harvard business and the Wharton school. DeVos became a highly distinguished alumni and gained much recognition from Northwood University. Devos began working in the family owned business of Amway when he was still quite young. Devos held various positions in Amway for about 10 years. He became vice president of Amway in 1986, and he was able to grow the business by 50% in annual sales.

 

The DeVos family acquired the NBA basketball team of Orlando Magic in 1991, and Dick DeVos left his position as the president and CEO of NBA Orlando Magic in 1993. Dick DeVos also held high positions in Altocor and the Windcrest Group. During his trajectory of his work life, Devos learned the value of hard work and dedication. These are qualities that have led him to be a great philantrapist, father, husband, advocate, and politician. DeVos has also been the recipient of various awards for his philanthropic efforts

 

Dick Devos has worked extensively in politics and he even ran for Michigan governor in 2005. Devos and his family have a huge dedication to helping others. Recently, Mlive.com did an article about the DeVos family because over their lifetime they have dedicated over $139 million to charity. The DeVos family has worked with various charities, but their main charity is called The Dick and Betsy DeVos Family Foundation. This is is a foundation that has a focus on education and life improvement for individuals around the world. This fund also has a focus on the arts and medicine. Dick DeVos and his wife Betsy DeVos have four children who are also involved in philanthropy. The oldest of their four children gave out $104 million to charity in 2005 alone. Over their lifetime, the DeVos have dedicated their time, effort, and money to helping others to improve their life. Even though they are a wealthy family, the DeVos respect the importance of giving back to the community.
